The Centre held its sixth annual symposium at the Fairmont Royal York on October 9th, 2014. The keynote, Dr. Christopher Landrigan, Research and Fellowship Director, Inpatient Pediatrics Service, Boston Children’s Hospital Inpatient Program delivered a timely presentation on provider fatigue and handoff miscommunication problems in patient safety and health professional education. Locally, we also had Dr. David Urbach, Senior Scientist, Toronto General Research Institute review his findings from a widely read paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine earlier this year, “Introduction of surgical safety checklists in Ontario, Canada” (Mar 13, 2014) and Dr. Dante Morra, Chief of Medical Staff, Trillium Health Partners; Associate Director, Center for Inter-professional Education give an inside look at mechanics of a large scale radiology review & disclosure. We had over 200 particpants who attended our breakout sessions and poster viewings by various local, national and international speakers/presenters.
